Flowers

Valentine is just around the corner.  Flowers for sale will be readily available.  It would be nice though if flowers will be given together with chocolates.  Getting a flower from a loved one brings one a great feeling. It’s a feeling of being loved, cared, and valued by your significant other.  I hope though that flowers are not given just every Valentine’s Day. I would love to receive flowers or a dozen of flowers every special occasion and maybe every monthversary or anniversary.

I love this bouquet of flowers!

Giving flowers to your special someone is very easy.  Distance or lack of time to go to a flower shop to buy a bouquet of flowers is not a valid reason.  You know why? It is because you can buy flowers online and send it anywhere in the world.  Just like what my special someone is doing.  He is sending me flowers from halfway around the world. Isn’t he thoughtful and loving?  He orders it online and have it delivered to me.  You can go to flower online stores such as Flower Depot,  Florists Express for same day delivery and make your loved one happy!

Bar

One of my dreams when I build my own house is to put a small bar in near the dining room. The shelves, table tops and rustic bar stools would be made of a nice light colored wood, with a perfect mix of lighting too.

Nice rustic bar stool that I have in mind

I’m not fond of alcoholic beverages but having a sip of wine once in a while would be nice.  Wine is good for the heart, anyway :-)

Kung Hei fat choi!

Kung Hei fat choi!  Today is the Chinese New Year!

Dragon Dance is the highlight during Chinese New Year, performed all over the world.  The Chinese believes that dragon brings luck and prosperity for the years to come.  It is a common sight in the malls, supermarkets, buildings owned by Chinese and in China town.

Toys

Toys are the best gift that we can give to the children during Christmas, birthdays and special occassions.  Toys help them to develop the physically and mentally.  Appropriate toys for the kids’ age helps them develop and enhance their motor skills.  For example, toys that will allow them to identify shapes and colors and match the pieces accordingly, lego toys, toys that will let them exercise and toys that will allow them to be creative.

In giving toys to your kids, make sure that no component of the toy will harm your kids.  Think of their safety before buying any toys. Have you got any great gift ideas dad and mom for your kids?

I am thankful

I went to the bank today to pay my bill and I thank God I was at Metrobank.   I arrived at the bank serving customer number 39 and my number was 69.  I would be the 30th customer on the line plus there were a lot of customers arriving.  Good thing with Metrobank is that they give numbers and provide chairs to their clients. Therefore, the client could use his/her time wisely. S/he can do other things while waiting for his turn, for the clients who may want to stay and wait for their turn, they can stay at the bank, sit and read.  The clients will not suffer for an aching calf after 1 hour of standing just like what I experienced in BDO last time when I paid my bills there, and I said to myself not to go there anymore to pay bills if I have other options.

As a customer, I feel valued when it’s convenient.  Transacting in banks like Metrobank, PS Bank, BPI, PNB, and other banks that provide numbers and seat to the clients is better than transacting in banks who do not think of their clients’ welfare.

Jeepney

typical jeepney in the Philippines

Jeepney, is the most common public transportation for the masses in the Philippines. Other mode of public transportation are buses (on the national road), tricycles (minor roads), pedicabs (on some streets of Manila), FX/van, and cabs. Jeepney fare is Php8 for the first 4 km, then an additional of P1-1.50 each succeeding kilometers. This is the cheapest fare if you are on a budget mode. But, this can be the most expensive trip that you can have during unfortunate times with the robbers. It is because they would get your valuable belongings such as your jewelry, cellphone, money and to the extent your life if you will not cooperate.

I had this unfortunate experience this week on a Wednesday, when I was going to Makati to attend a seminar. The jeep stopped along EDSA from Quezon Avenue due to a heavy traffic. Then suddenly, 2 robbers appeared at the back of the woman who was sitting next to my left, and grabbed the woman’s necklace forcefully. The robber even told her “Ibigay mo, papatayin kita” (Give it to me or else I will kill you). Then the woman gave it to him obediently.  Thank God that she was not harmed, but I feel sorry for her.  There are a lot of stories about robbery in the jeepney.  They get stuff that they can easily bring to a pawnshop for an easy money.

When on a public transport, be sure to be wise. Don’t display what will cost you or your life.  Don’t wear your gold necklace or earrings because they are like magnets to the robbers’ eyes.  Take note that these robbers know what is genuine and what’s not genuine. Don’t give them opportunity of getting what is yours. Do not text on a jeepney using your iphone, Blackberry, HTC, and expensive models of Nokia and Sony Ericson.  The verse in Ecclesiastes, “there is a time for everything” is so real.  There is the best time and place to wear and use your jewelry and expensive cellphones. Don’t use them to give these robbers opportunity to rob you. Be wise and be discerning.

I also wish that there would be available law enforcers during heavy traffic hours to prevent the robbery from happening.

My hard drive is full!

my hard drive is full!
I have been watching a lot of movies and series until I realized that my hard drive is already full.  However, it’s a waste to delete the copies of those because they are really nice.  You will not regret watching them repeatedly.
Since my hard drive is already full,  I need to find a way to store copies of the files in CD’s.  However, burning all of them may be taking too much of my time so I need to have them burned. On another note, now I understand why a cd duplication service is necessary for those that are in the business of distributing copies of audiobooks, e-books, music recordings.

Noche Buena

December 25th, 2011 at 12 MN.  I was awaken by the noisy firecrackers and loud music from the neighborhood. It’s Christmas time! Woohoo!  But I’m alone because I didn’t go home or went to a friend’s house to celebrate Christmas. I remember last year, I was not home too.  I was at the airport because the plane was not able to land due to heavy downpour of the rain that day.  I spent my Christmas eve at the airport and slept there too.

Usually at this time, Noche Buena is served.  At home, we would have pasta and pansit-bihon (noodles), bread, biko (glutinous rice delicacy), buko (young coconut strips and fruits) salad, lechon (roasted pork), cake, etc.   After the Noche Buena, we would give gifts (if there is any) to my nieces and nephews.

Today, since I am alone, Samba (sounds like Santa?) accompanied me on Noche Buena time.

Prayer Room at Manila Domestic airport

Last time when I went home, and I flew via AirPhilippines which is at NAIA Terminal 3, I noticed that the building has a prayer room – for Muslims.  I tried to look around to find if there was a prayer room for Christians too but to no avail.  Good thing that Christians can pray anywhere because we have an Omnipresent God.

When I flew via ZestAir recently, I was overjoyed to see that Manila Domestic Airport has a prayer room too – for Christians!
