I was enraged by an email that I received from Magmahost today. An invoice! Are you serious, Magmahost? I bought a hosting from you for 1 year in August 2011 last year, you did not give me the service that is due to me. I just wasted $20 for nothing since I bought hosting for 2 domains from magmahost. Of course, I wasted another $20 because I have not utilized my domain. What did I get? Nothing. And now I am being charged for another $20 and will get nothing from you? Give me the service that you owe me! Paypal wouldn’t give me a refund since this is a service that is not refundable but then I got no service from you.
I contacted the customer service support for several times via email and I received a reply after 3 months giving me a password that is not valid. Then I contacted them again to inform that the password would still not let me in to the c-panel, but I got no response. A friend also bought a hosting from Magmahost and her domain was always down.
Getting a hosting from Magmahost will only cause you trouble. So don’t even try. Trust me, you will end up hating Magmahost.
I am surprised that I still get invoices from Magamahost, a couple of years after I moved to another hosting provider, due to their lack of any service whatsoever… I think it’s laughable that they publicise someone else’s phone number on their site!
Pass your concerns onto Companies House – that is what I did, and when even they could not get any response from the company it was passed onto the trade and industry department to see if they would take action.
I also raised a complaint with trading standards in Tower Hamlets (where the registered office is supposed to be based) – although they don’t bother responding either!
Enough complaints to PayPal have thankfully got Magmahost’s paypal account cacncelled, although 2Checkout, Moneybookers and Alert Pay don’t take any action (they probably have not received enough complaints).
The more people that complain about this company, the more likely it is to get its payment accounts cancelled.
As for striking off and the website being taken down, who knows – the website is run from Russia, so unlikely to be removed, and I guess that is where the company is now run from.
